The Tree Charter

We are proud to be a Tree Charter Branch…

On 6 November 2017, on the 800th anniversary of the 1217 Charter of the Forest, the new Charter for Trees, Woods and People was launched by the Woodland Trust.

The Charter for Trees, Woods and People sets out the principles for a society in which people and trees can stand stronger together.

In September 2019, we became a Tree Charter Branch. Charter Branches are integral to embedding the Tree Charter’s ten principles and ensuring that the relationship between people and trees is recognised in decision making across homes, neighbourhoods, communities and government.

The 10 Tree Charter Principles…

Sustain landscapes rich in wildlife

Recover health, hope and wellbeing with the help of trees

Plant for the future

Celebrate the power of trees to inspire

Grow forests of opportunity and innovation

Protect irreplaceable trees and woodland

Plan greener local landscapes

Make trees accessible to all

Combat the threats to our habitats

Strengthen our landscapes with trees
